How to display font previews in Pages.app
Anyone used to Microsoft Word is also used to having a preview of the different fonts by simply using the drop down from the formatting toolbar (as shown on the left here). But what about Pages.app?
At first glance, it may seem like this functionality is missing in Pages.app but to get font previews, simply click on the cogwheel (settings) icon in the Fonts window and click on Show Preview. The top of the window then expands to show a preview of the font selected as shown below.
Tip: To bring up the Fonts window press Command + T or click on the Format menu then Fonts and then Show Fonts.

This is all well and good, but in AppleWorks you could see all of the fonts in the font list as they would look, just like Word. In this way you could go through the hundred or so fonts you may have available to find the one that is “just right” without having to stop and select each one. It makes what took 10 second in AppleWorks a five minute job in Pages. I have had to make a font book to keep on my desk, not the way computers especially Apples should work.

Agree completely. The “solution” helps but is not at all efficient. I made a document that I can keep open with examples of some of my favorite fonts (sure not going to do 100+!). This is a really stupid thing to have to do on a Mac.
Can’t believe Apple didn’t make this as efficient as it should be. CAN APPLE MAKE A FIX??? Pleeeeeeeease.
